What do you do?
We’re a custom software solutions company that specializes in capital markets. But, because our software is bespoke and well-respected for adaptability and customization, we’ve attracted clients from all over the fintech, tech, futures, and trading realms. Are you the QuickFIX people?
Yes, actually. Connamara is the co-originator and maintainer of the original open-source project QuickFIX along with the C# and Golang versions. We are a contributor to the QuickFIX/j project as well. We’ve been involved with the FIX Trading Community for decades. You can read about our FIX involvement here.
How many projects do you have going at once?
On average, we’ve got anywhere from 15-20. About a third of our projects are new greenfield development, while the rest are more mature and in the ongoing maintenance or enhancement phase.
Which programming languages do you use, and what’s your tech stack?
Connamara prides itself on having a team of polyglottal developers well-versed in a multitude of languages and frameworks. How much is this going to cost me?

What is Connamara Technologies, and how is it different than Connamara?
Connamara Tech, as we refer to it, is our sister company launched in 2022, which offers pre-built products with minimal customization. Where Connamara offers fully custom solutions, Connamara Technologies helps clients implement exchange technology and utilize their EP3™ Matching Engine.
So what is EP3™?

Where are you located?
We are a fully remote U.S.-based company with a global workforce of Connamarians who log on from their homes and co-working spaces in Chicago, Texas, California, Utah, India, and Argentina, or wherever their global nomad lifestyle takes them. Fun fact: Connamara was actually remote-first as early as 2000. We’ve always been early adopters!
How big is your team?
We’ve got around 50 Connamarians but have steadily added to this “VIP” group since 1998.
Does Connamara have anything to do with Connemara?
It does! Our founder, Jim Downs, loves to travel to Ireland. A favorite area is the region of Galway, known as Connemara. When forming our company, SEO was top of mind, so Downs swapped the E for an A.
Is Connamara different from Connamara Systems?
We’ve recently dropped the “Systems” from our name colloquially and in branding. But officially, Connamara’s full name is Connamara Systems, LLC.
