Connamara sponsored the innovative Proprietary Trading Managers’ Meeting last week which brought together industry leaders for an engaging discussion on the evolving landscape in the derivatives markets.
The unique Acuiti event format encouraged open dialogue, with delegates and speakers seated together in a horseshoe in order to foster interaction and drive candid, collaborative discussion.
The meeting featured three key themes:
- Redefining Roles in Modern Derivatives Markets
Our President & COO, Michael Gatny, and Cassandra Cox (LMAX) explored the rise of self-clearing and crypto innovations influencing traditional finance. Topics included technology investments for self-clearing firms and how crypto’s 24/7 trading is reshaping FX market structures, followed by broad audience engagement. - Global Derivatives Markets Under Trump 2.0
Craig Cohen (SGX) and David Helps (TMX) introduced how US tariff threats and geopolitical shifts are impacting derivatives markets in Asia and Canada. They highlighted opportunities created by SGX’s extended trading hours and Canada’s rate outlook, sparking a lively audience discussion on risks and market responses. - Outsourcing Technology: Commodity or USP?
Jeff Mezger (TNS) and Michael Gatny discussed shifting strategies around outsourcing connectivity and infrastructure. They examined the evolving buy-versus-build debate, including cloud versus bare metal solutions, with insights from attendees on technology trends.
After 90 minutes of robust discussion, the formal agenda concluded, and attendees transitioned to a drinks reception—continuing conversations sparked during the sessions in a more informal setting.
The Proprietary Trading Managers’ Meeting stood out for its highly interactive format and the depth of expertise in the room. By prioritizing dialogue over monologue, the event offered not just answers, but new questions and connections—helping shape the future of derivatives markets in a time of rapid change.
Connamara looks forward to hosting more events with Acuiti in the future.
