Connamara Systems, LLC announced today that FIX Trading Community has formed a working group to set guidelines for the use of FIX with JSON (JavaScript Object Notation) to be co-chaired by Connamara Systems and Credit Suisse Group. The FIX JSON Working Group will focus its efforts on creating an encoding of the FIX Protocol in JSON. JSON is a prominent data representation format in use on the modern Internet, especially for Application Programming Interfaces (APIs).
Jim Northey, FIX Global Technical Committee Co-chair and Principal Services Consultant, Itiviti AB, states, “The FIX Community appreciates Connamara Systems continued contributions, including Mike Gatny’s leadership in developing this important new technical standard.”
Mike Gatny, VP of Engineering, notes, “It is an honor for Connamara to participate in and contribute to the FIX Trading Community. Their contributions to the industry in setting standards are invaluable to increasing efficiency for the entire trading community.”
By publishing a standardized and detailed set of guidelines for JSON Encoding, FIX Trading Community is addressing the need for a human-readable FIX encoding that works well at the scale of browser-based applications and the micro-services that power them. With these guidelines, market participants will be able to interoperate using JSON Encoding for FIX without the need for distributing additional software.
