CHALLENGE:
Letko, Brosseau & Associates Inc. is a Canadian independent investment manager that manages funds for institutional investors and private clients. The LetkoBrosseau team was transitioning from manual order processing methods to an automated system via the Financial Information eXchange (FIX) protocol. With limited experience with the FIX protocol and its implementation, they sought a solution provider to streamline their order processing automation.
LetkoBrosseau recognized the decades of expertise and experience Connamara had with QuickFIX (as co-authors and official maintainers) and engaged our developers for some initial support hours. Soon, the collaboration was extended to design a more complex solution.
SOLUTION:
Connamara designed and developed FIX adapters and a user interface (UI) tailored to LetkoBrosseau’s needs. The solution aimed to automate order processing, allowing seamless interaction with their order management system through FIX. Leveraging technologies like Kafka, .NET, and Docker, Connamara built a scalable system capable of receiving orders, transmitting them via FIX, and updating order statuses in a database accessible through a simplified UI.

The project marked a significant milestone for LetkoBrosseau, bridging the gap in their knowledge of the FIX protocol and improving their order processing through automation. Connamara not only delivered a solution it ensured was comprehensible and easily maintainable for LetkoBrosseau’s development team, but also provided ongoing support and guidance to ensure a seamless transition.
